week 16-17

MATH 
I did lesson 21, I got 100% or 20/20. In the lesson i learned about eating the right foods. (not joking). I practiced my division word problems.
I learned that in a ton there is 2000 pounds, and in a pound there is 16 ounces.
I learned about quilting (not joking) 
In that lesson I got 99% or 19/20 
I also learned about adding fractions and that no matter what the top number is the bottom number is always the same.
I did lesson 23 in my Teaching Textbook. In that lesson I learned about taxes and, i learned about the gross income and the net income. We did word problems like " On Monday Emma received her paycheck from Juicy Drippy Burgers. Her gross income was $270. She had federal taxes of $28 that where withheld, she also had state taxes of $13 and Social Security taxes of $16. What was Emma's net income"?  (the answer is $204)
I learned about computer hard drives. i learned that in a kilobyte there is 1,000 bytes and in a megabyte there is 1,000,000 bytes 
and in a gigabyte there is 1,000,000,000 bytes.   
I did lesson 25. In that lesson i learned about borrowing money from the bank and paying interest on a care and what a down payment was.
I got 100% or 20/20. 
I learned about problems like this....8+9x3. you always do the multiplication first.I got 95% or 19/20. this was lesson 26.

LANG ARTS 

I finished my avatar battle book. It had a good ending.

I learned the difference between so and sew.

I started and finished my A-Z mysteries the ninth nugget

I also read and finished the yellow yacht. 

I have stared a book called "Escape from Zarahemla". 

I am also reading a Goddess Girl book called "Aphrodite the Fair".  

I also read a Junie B Jones.

I learned the difference between 'all ready' and 'already. in already there is only one l because there is an r with it, and we only need two letters between a vowel and a consonant, So the e wont make the a say its name.

I am reading about the Vietnam war.

I learned about the differences between Mary the name, marry the relationship, and merry having fun.

I finished my goddess girl book last night. 

HISTORY 
I learned about BKS Iyengar. He was the founder of lyengar Yoga. he died at age 90. he was born in December,14,1918.  
I learned that the Vietnam war was, the most bloodiest war ever known to man.
I also learned that in that same time slot that, Martian Luther King Jr. was alive and was protesting for the black people. 
I learned about Elves Presley.  He was born on January,8,1935. He died on August,16,1977. 
He was addicted to drugs, and he had an over dose of a drug that made his heart stop.
I also learned about Micheal Jackson. He was the "King" of pop. He started preforming at age 11 and he was born on August 29th,1958. He died..June 25,2009.  He also died of drugs.
I also learned about the Osmonds, They where good Mormons. and fame never came to there head.     



SEWING
I had sewing class on Monday, I am working on a shirt.  I have sewing camp on the 21st ans 22nd. 
I made a scissor holder with a rim that is a pin cushion. 
I made a bay max for my little brother,

This is Bay-Max next to a barbie doll.

a neck rice tube for my dad,

You microwave it for about 3-4 mins.

I made one for my grandpa but it only had one line rather than two.

and a bed side organizer,  

 I also made an apron for my grandma. it was double sided so one side was plane and the other was zig-zag.

I turned in my assignment. This assignment was my mid year highlights.
It was a picture of some penguins in the snow.  In this half a year i have been learning about lighting, so in my picture i tried to have perfect lighting.  

week 15

MATH 
I practiced every thing I learned this year.
I did lots of division, multiplication, and addition, word problems.
I practiced my long division. 
I did my multiplication, addition, subtraction ect.   
I did a lesson in Saxon math. The lesson that I did was lesson 82. 


LANG ARTS 
I learned about hyphens, a hyphen is a dash that is used in words like well-known, far-distant, and sun warmed. They can also be used as a syllable divider like mic-ro-scope.
I learned the difference between loan and lone. 
I did a cross word puzzle with homophones. 
I am reading the Avatar battle.
                       
I am reading it continually for 3  hours every night. 
I did a lesson of typing. I practiced my c,g, and n. I am getting fairly good at typing wall looking at the screen instead of the keys.
On my spelling test i got 100%. The lesson that i learned was the job of silent e. it can be a syllable, make sure a word dose not end in a wrong letter and to make letters say there names.  

HISTORY
I followed Athena's family tree and saw who  she was related to. 
I am re-reading the Civil war book.
I learned about the minie ball. The minie ball was a bullet that had grooves in it so when it was shot it would spin and when it would hit something it would explode. 
I learned what a nomad is. nomad means people that wander. and the nomads where people that would move every day for food or essentially wander.       

SEWING
I made a pillow and a blanket out of felt. I used a white peace of felt for the blanket and a green pillow and a pink small pillow. i make the pillows like i do other ones. i sew the good side to good side and leave a hole and  turn it right side. then i stuff it and hand sew the hole closed and your done!

I am working on my mid-year highlights.
I think i am going to take a picture of one of my sisters. i am going to have them bye the fire place of Christmas tree. It will look like Christmas eve.

LANG ARTS 
I have the Percy Jackson movies, I have read the books twice. So i will make a list of the things different in the movie then the book.
The Lightning Thief,
In the movie they have Annebeth have brown hair and green eyes but in the book she has gray eyes and blond hair. 
They also have Percy and Annebeth as teens when in the book they are 12. In the movie the Minotaur got a horn off by getting stuck in a tree but in the book Percy takes the horn from the Minotaur.

Week 14

MATH
I practiced my flash card with 6's. 
I practiced my double multiplication flash cards. Like 10x10 2x2 12x12 ect.
I did my second test and it was 24 questions
long. It took me about 30 mins to do. The percentage i got was 100% or 24/24. 
I went through all of my math lessons i have done this year and I practiced all that i have learned. I have learned about multiplication,division,the division rules,the division rules part 2,roman numerals, and lot of other ones that would take me forever to name.     



LANG ARTS
I am continuing to read to my sisters "The Bald Banded". 
I did my cursive, this one said "To measure a man, measure his heart." -Malcolm Forbes (1919-1990)
I learned the difference between very ( i am very happy) and vary ( the price on the toy can vary).
I wrote in my journal about school and my life.
I practiced my comma putting like in dates,places, time, ect.
I read about the first sewing machine, it was built bye Thomas Saint. 
The people did not accept it at first but then they realized that it would make clothes cheaper and easier to make.
I learned the difference between flower ( nice flower pot) and flour ( I made bread with flour).    



HISTORY 
I learned about Galileo. 
He was a scientist that was wondering if two things different sizes would effect gravity's force. So he dropped two different cannonballs and they landed at the same time.
I re-read the Civil war book. I am glad that the blacks could have the same rights as the whites.
I learned about all the Greek Gods. Each God has there own special power that no other God has.
I learned about Medusa. The mortal was framed by Posiden in Athena's temple so Athena cursed her.         

SEWING
I am going to sewing camp on the 21st and the 22nd. In the sewing camp i am going to make either a cape, bed side organizer or an apron. The sewing camp will be a 4 hour thing from 12am to 4pm. 
I am going to try to make a Barbie clothing. I am also going to make a plush Baymax for my little brother for Christmas.  



PHOTOGRAPHY 
I turned in my 6.2 photography assignment. The lesson was on the different kinds of lenses there where. The longer the lenses the closer they can zoom. That's why the people that take pictures of celebrities have LONG lenses so they can get a good close up.   

week 12-13

MATH 
I learned about mixed numbers and that a mixed number has to have a fraction and a hole number.
I did lesson 19, that lesson was about how to see if a number is a even or odd number with odd  digits.
I learned what a reciprocals is. It is when you take a fraction like 5 over 3 and you turned it to 3 over 5, and to change it back you will do something called an invert. It is when you change a 5 over 3 back to a 3 over 5.
I made some cinnamon rolls and some normal bread rolls.
I  taught my little siblings how to do small fractions like 1+1=2 and 1+3=4. Easy ones like that.
  
LANG ART
I finished my Manguse Chase book. It ended on a cliff hanger so I cant wait for the next book to come out. I started and finished The Pharaoh's Secret

I did some typing, I practiced the letters c,g and n. I am at 33 words per-minute.

I learned what a prepositional phrases.
It can show a location, time or direction.
I learned about a run on sentence, the works that make run on sentence is but,and and or.  I learned what the difference is between pedal (pedal on a bike) petal ( petal on a rose) and peddle ( sell you peddle somewhere else) 
I learned about the EY team.   You cant have an EY in the middle of a word.
 I am reading the second book of the A to Z mysteries to my sisters, the book is called "the bald bandit".

I made a school for my 3 year old brother and my 5 year old sister.

I  taught them how to spell... love, hope and and. 

HISTORY
I read about the Greek Gods and why they created them. They wanted to have an explanation for what was happening. like rain and tornadoes and earthquakes.   
I read about the Vietnam war.
I read about the bombing of German. It was the most bloodiest war ever. 
We went to the museum of natural history. 

We even got to go behind the scenes of the museum and see real dinosaur bones. All the pictures that i am going to show you are real bones.

This is me with a REAL T-Rex tooth. The tooth has bumps on them to help them cut meat.

You can see the holes for the tusks. they must have been HUGE!

The mid-year project is when you take three pictures with all that i have learned this year.  


SEWING
I made a reversible apron. On one side it is a chevron pattern ( pink,purple and white) with soled color ( purple) pockets and on the other side is a plane color with chevron pockets.
I made a barbie blanket (pink and purple) and a hand towel out of old pieces of felt. I sewed two together and hemmed the sided and put stripes in the center. the hand rag ( green) I just cut it to the appropriate side and I hemmed it. 

week 11

MATH
 I did lesson 18, i got 80% or 16/20. I learned about dividing with two or more digits, like 1,047/16. 
 In  lesson 19 that i am going to explain to you I got 100% or 20/20. I learned about the divisibility rules part one. I learned how to tell if a number can be divided evenly bu two without having to go threw the processes of dividing. If you have a number like 104,293,194 you can tell if it can be divided evenly by 2 is the last number, the last number in this huge number is 4, and four can be divided evenly by two, the the hole number is even, it worked with odd numbers too, like 1,3,5,7,8, ext. 
I practiced my rounding three digits, to determine if you round to a higher number or a lower number is the 5, if it's higher then five it goes to a higher number like 16 it would go to 20, or like 14 would go to 10.       



LANG ARTS
I did a page in my cursive book, the famous quote i did this time was bye Nelson Mandela.

I learned the difference between piece and peace,sew,so and sow.

I am reading a book called the tools of ancient Greece.

I am still reading Manguse chase and i am on pg 433.

I learned about 1st 2nd and 3rd person. first person is like a narrator, second person is like a journal and 3rd person is referring to your self but not really.   

  

HISTORY
I learned about a girl named Hedy Lamarr, she was a American and Austrian actress and inventor. She is mostly seen in love movies. She became an actress in the late 1930s to the late 1950s. At the beginning of world war two she joined the Allied war Effort. 
I did some mores code, I DE-coded a message that said " the code today tells us we need the word th" the massage was cut of.... this is the massage in mores code...

I also rote my families names in mores code and the alphabet.

 

SEWING
I made a pillow for my friend, 
On one side is a plane pink and on  the other has pocadot striped. 
I practiced sewing straight lines.
I finished my skirt.
I am working on a shirt.

week 10

Math 
I practiced my long division. I learned how to divide two numbers like 39 divided by 1,028. 
I also practiced my pentominoes. In the program Hooda Math they have a program that is like pentominoes and you have to move the pieces around to fit the space they give you.
I learned how to multiply two digits, like this one 18x104.
I also practiced my adding and subtracting.

Lang arts
I finished my House of Hades book. 
I am now i am a little half way done with the Magnus Chase book.

I am at the part when Magnus, Sam and Hearth are running from an angry mob  of dwarfs is chasing them to the edge of the second world. They Just jumped in the river that leads to a different world of the nine worlds.

I did some more cursive quotes.

The one that i did was bye Cesar Chavez. "We need to cherish and preserve the ethnic and cultural diversity that nourishes and strengthens this community and this nation.

  

History
I finished the civil war book. Some people in the war thought that they would survive better without the hospital. They had a 50/50 shot of living, because the amputation would have the wound raw and bleeding they dint was the saw so they cared blood from other people,  and if they dint have the amputation they would die of the bullet and the infection.   

Sewing
I made three baby blankets that has velcro on the sides so when you rap the baby doll up the blanket will stay. 

Photography I am finished on lesson five.I played on a website that is kinda like a camera so i can experiment with the ISO and such.   In lesson 5 i learned about the manual  mode and the camera. I also learned about the balance triangle that is made up of the ISO,Aperture, and the shutter speed.

week 9

MATH
I practiced my adding. I added long numbers like 57+45+13+26+35+48=224.
I also practiced my subtracting like 184,204-295=183,909
I practiced long division. I did ten or eleven problems. I also learned how to divide with zeroes. Like 130,000,000/1,947,000. To solve that problem you need to egnoer the zeroes, and multiply the normal numbers then add whatever zeroes are left.      



LANG ARTS
I am continuing to read Percy Jackson and the House of Hades.

HISTORY 
I am reading a comic strip on the civil war. This war in history is about the blacks and whites wanting there freedom. I also learned that having slaves released was 99.99999999999% not likely. If the master could not pay to feed and cloth all of his/her slaves then they would sell them,the place where you could buy slaves is called a slave market or a slave trade.
I also learned the different between two and to and bye and by and buy. 


SEWING 
I am in the process of making a skirt.

All i have to do is hem the bottom.

I am working on my next lesson, it is lesson 5. I  played on a website that is kinda like a camera so i can experiment with the different settings. 
I also learned about the camera triangle. In the triangle is the ISO,Aperture, and the shutter speed.
